Mike Elmendorf, President of Rebuild New York Now, released the following statement in response to the New York state budget agreement:
“The final budget provides an historic level of investment in statewide transportation infrastructure and represents a major step forward toward meeting New York’s massive, long-term infrastructure needs.
The budget includes the largest NYSDOT capital plan in history, with significant new investments to rebuild New York’s crumbling roads and bridges. The budget also provides investments for the critical needs of the MTA—and moves to restore parity between the two systems.
This represents a true a victory for the millions of New Yorkers who rely on our transportation infrastructure to get them to and from work and school every day. Rebuild NY Now–which includes business, labor and local governments–commends Governor Cuomo, Majority Leader Flanagan, Speaker Heastie and the Legislature for their leadership.
We will continue to advocate for important investments in New York’s future, but right now we are ready to get to work to Rebuild New York.”
